error trapping using mapi control

Hi! please help me with my problem. It goes something like this... I am currently developing a visual basic application that can send email using the mapi control and outlook express, my problem is what if the user of my application enters an invalid email address? When the problem occurs, outlook express will show a window saying that the email address is invalid, and my application wil just stop responding. what i am trying to do is to close the outlook express window saying the error and proceed. how can i do that? please help me...
