    VB Install Program

    OK - I can't use VB.net becaue I use Control Arrays and make them invisible for selection in a multi-thumbnail image and .net did away with control arrays along with invisible labels. I give up then on VB.net

    How bout this - could anyone tell me how to get VB6 to "Package" my finished application and force it to install an adjunctory Sub directory of the jpgs that I select from the Form1 thumbnail jpg? No matter how I try, VB6 packager will only let me select adjunct files one at a time - not a whole folder and since I have 128 jpg images it would take me way too long just to finish the application. I appreciate any help sincerely. John in Salem, Oregon trying to find a language that actually works.......... .

      Just a couple of thoughts...
      • I may have this wrong, but I think you can package up things like images in a resource file. Might be worth checking.
      • The imagelist control may also provide an alternative.
      • You might also consider purchasing some version of InstallShield - it has some wonderful capabilities.

              InstallShield allows you to build good standalone install programs, with all the fancy features you've seen when installing other software (such as Visual Studio, for instance). I'd suggest you check out their website or something, to see what it can do. There are different versions (I used to use InstallShield Express, years ago) with varying capabilities.

              You'll have to decide whether it's worth it, as well - as I recall, it's not cheap.

              There are probably other installation builders too - just have a look around the web.
