Hi Group
I think that I may have unwittingly caused MS Visual Basic to make
objects that I insert into Word 2000 documents appear differently.
For example, if I create a new document and insert the page numbers,
instead of the digit appearing, what actually appears is this:
{PAGE} note, brackets are greyed out.
Or if I insert a midi file what appears is this:
{EMBED MIDFile} note, brackets are in Bold
When I R-Click inside Bold brackets, the submenu will appear and I
can activate the object and make it appear as normal. However this is not possible to do when the brackets are greyed out as in the case of the page numbers.
This peculiarity also appears when I open Word documents created
prior to this problem.
I can't remember exactly what I was doing at the time but I think I
must have had a Word doc open and was 'experimenting' with the F-
keys and keyboard shortcuts and when I pressed Alt+F11, MS Visual
Basic opened up. So, naturally I was curious and fiddled around
with it, clicking this & that (goes without saying that no, I cannot
remember exactly what I clicked and fiddled with!!) Seems to me
that somehow I have altered some codes or something??? That's what I
get for being a stickybeak, hey!
Is there anyone who can pinpoint my problem and steer me in the
right direction? My OS is XP Home Edition.
Note: when the doc prints out, the correct page numbers and/or graphics appear normally, so it is only when I view the documents on screen that they show all the coding or whatever it is.
I would appreciate any help offered, as I have "absolutely no knowledge or understanding of VB whatsoever" ... I didn't even know that it existed until I started fiddling around with the F-keys. I am just a plain-jane pc user who has no techie knowledge at all, and as such, I apologise for being a pain, but I have been trying to sort this mess out for months & months, and no-one knows how to fix it. So I did a search of VB help and came to this site (thankfully!!)
Please help if you can.
thank you so much.
