    VS Professional - Crystal Reports

I was wondering if someone who has purchased VS 2005 Professional if they
can let me know if the crystal reports is embedded on one of the cd's or if
the box comes with crystal reports as an extra cd installation.

Im looking at a vs 2005 prof used copy and a listing of the cd's:

Visual Studio 2005 Professional (Disks 1 and 2 with product key)
    MSDN Library (Disks 1, 2 and 3)
SQL Server 2005 Developer edition (1 disk with product key)

    Thanks in advance.

It should be on the CD - there isn't a separate installation but Crystal is
a component in the VS.NET toolbox.

      Thank You,

Just doing some due dilligence before I purchase a used copy and notice a cd
      missing later.

      I don't need 2008 ( comparing the price to 2005 ), but to play - 2005
professional I think will do just fine with all its extra features.

2008 can compile for .NET 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5. 2008 also supports WPF, WCF,
        WFE, Linq, Silverlight, etc.

These features are major enhancements to the .NET framework - something to
consider if you'll be using VS.NET for the long haul.

You can use some of these features in VS.NET 2005, but most of the tools
provided by Microsoft are pre-production quality.

Re: VS Professional - Crystal Reports

my problem is that my books im still going thru are 2005 books ( yes i know
2008 works on them just fine ),

but because I still am doing this in my spare time after work, then spending
800-900 dollars which currently could just be described as just a 'hobby'
is a bit steep for me.
In the future - I would not like it to be a hobby ( in .net ), but I don't
know it well enough to start paying the bills yet either.

I wish microsoft had a lease to own option. That would be perfect.
Now that 2008 is out, some 2005's are for sale at a discounted used price
and a 200 dollar hit seems more reasonable.
An upgrade after that might be a more economical choice.

I'm still debating between the two, but I'll see what I find out there and
          go from there.
I did read a in a blog http://www.betav.com/blog/billva/ and it does have a
          vs2010 wish list.
If 2010 is the next release date - maybe that will be the upgrade for me
          from 2k5 :-)

Learning .net is defenitly taking its time trying to wrap my head around so
many new things that I did not have access to in the past 8 years using a
          4gl language.

          M.

yes I was using the graphic database connection tools,

I want to start playing and learnign all the different installs that come
                with a non express,
start playing with an sql server instead of the express

basically all the bells and whistles.

Once some books start coming out for 2008, i would like to start hitting
                those up too.
I think you were more right on the 2008 vs the 2005. Might as well start
learning linq and all the other things.

I almost got a good deal on a 2008 but the damn company doesnt ship to
canada, cause they sell the same product on their canadian website for 500
                bux more.

So far the cheapest I have found online was for a 2008 Professional on
                Amazon.com
Go take a look at the same product on amazon.ca ... we totally get hozed
even though our dollars are at par. :(

I did get a free copy of Visual Studios 2005 Standard from Microsoft a
while back... When 2008 comes out you might want to keep your eyes open for
those sort of deals. It was a website where you watch 3 webinars and MS
sends a copy of VS.NET. Thought it was a scam, but RedFlagDeals.co m said it
was legit... sure enough 3 weeks later a packet shows up with VS.NET 2005
                  :-)

                      Funny,
I called Microsoft Canada today and amazon.com somehow was beating their
                      selling price.
                      She couldn't understand it.

I'll find a solution to my problem. Just a matter of time :)

Worst case, I sign up for a course at the college, get the Academic
version... ask for the exam in the first day,
and I can teach myself the rest of the year on it on my own.
Really is silly that I would have to pay somoene to regurgitate a book to me
just to be able to apply for an acedemic version.

They did also refer me to this site:
