    Procedure searching for inappropriate language

Does anyone have or know where I can get a some code that will check a
    TextBox for inappropriate language.

At the moment, we need to manually check submissions for language before
posting. This takes a lot of time and resources and in some cases a lot of
time before a submission is actually made live.

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Webform I'm guessing?

If so you could use some client-side javascript to do the search the
textbox on it's onchange event (or possibly Asp.Net's regex validator
would work?). Javascript exposes a RegExp object that you could use to
quickly do a search for foul language. If you prefer server-side
processing, you could use AJAX to send just the textbox to the server
    for processing.

    Thanks,

You need to search/Google for "badword" - though most solutions
are likely to be in the php domain.

There is a discussion about it here:
      http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=453361

      and a .Net suggestion here:
Find answers to VB.net Regular Expression - Word Filter from the expert community at Experts Exchange

Seems to be difficult finding a (long) list of words.

How about letting the community flag the inappropriate posts/words?
No dictionary is ever going 2 catch everyth1ng. And you are going to
      get false positives as well.

You can do this with regular expressions combined with a dictionary file,
but in general they're easy to bypass.

If you want a 100% bad word free site, you'll have to resort to some manual
        filtering :-(

That's what I am trying to do.

But I was hoping there was something out there already that does this with
an updateable list that I can update without touching the code.

          Thanks,

In this case, the community would not be viable. I agree no dictionary is
going to catch anything and I don't expect much problems here as there will
be credible companies that will use our site and I expect that there will be
an odd employee that will try to mess around and this is the one we want to
catch and just pass it on to the company managers to deal with (or we would
            ban the company).

            Thanks,

            Tom
