Firewall settings

Hi,

I try to do followings in VB.net
1. Detect whether Windows firewall is enabled or not.
2 If firewall is enabled, detect whether an application is in authoried list
or not. If not, I need to add it to the authorized apps list.

But it seems to me that above is totally impossible. Am I right? Any
suggestions? Please help.

if it was, then that would be a very big breach of security wouldnt it? why
not just programatically "talk" the user through adding the program to the
firewall's allowed list? programmaticall y changing settings like that (if
possible) prob isnt a good idea
