VisualStyles and ComboBox creation speed

I'm working on an app that dynamically creates a fairly large number of
ComboBoxes (around 20-25) in response to user input.

When I call Application.Ena bleVisualStyles in my application, the
creation of the combo boxes is 2-4 times slower than if I don't
enable visual styles.

I'd really like to have the look of XP combo boxes, but not at this
performance price. Any suggestions? Thanks.
