    What is .NET Redistributable?

What is the difference between the "Developers " and "General Users" links
    below?

Seems one is a direct download and the other uses the Windows Update
    service.

Also, what is the diffference bewteen .NET Framework and .NET Framework
    Redistributable ?

    Thanks,
    Brett

A redistributable is an exe file (23.1 MB) that can be included with the
setup files or can be copied on CD & installed on multiple machines without
    Internet access.

The General user version would be downloaded & installed via the Internet on
    a single machine.

For a person who has limited user knowledge then general user install is
automated by Windows Update, whereas, the distribution file can be installed
using the command line switches too.

I hope this has helped a little

Thanks. I thought WinXP gave the option to download the .NET Framework. I
just checked a user's computer that does not have .NET Framework installed.
Their Windows Update did not list it either. The Windows Update doesn't
provide an option for downloading .NET Framework?

      Thanks,
      Brett

The .NET Framework is an optional download. Maybe it doesn't show up on
your computer because the -.NET Framework is already installed.

On this particular computer, it doesn't show in the add/remove programs.
          What else could it be?

          Thanks,
          Brett

            Maybe it is not installed.

            Discontinued using the update process.

            Just a thought,

            Cor
