Does SQL Server depend on the machine's mac address?
I have a machine that I changed the MAC address on. The machine is running SQL Server 2005. Now I can't connect to "localhost" . Does the machine's mac address get embedded somewhere in SQL Server?
From what you've seen though, and from having some experience of how Microsoft Server packages tend to tie themselves into things on the server they're on, I would have to say that it's very likely the answer is a Yes.
