time out expired

hi i ma using a query like to select country code using between query cause ip

if im using this query i will fetch value sometime but i will display time out expired error some time.

to over come this problem what can i to do

can share your ideas with me

my query is

SELECT countryShort FROM IPCITYLATLONGIS P WHERE '3678433939' between ipFrom and ipTo

Is it timing out at the Front end?
If so, does it time out if you run it from query analyser?
What are you using for the front end?

How many records are there in IPCITYLATLONGIS P?
If lots. do you have an index on ipFrom and ipTo?

The query seems a little strange but I will say no more until I know a little more about what you are trying to do.

Follow this steps.
1. Right click on Server on Enterprise Manager
2. Click Properties then select Connection Tab
3. Set query time out to 0 (O is unlimited)
