i m trying to install sql server 2005 on pentium 3 with 256 ram , there is an error while installing that u must intall "windows installer 3.1 or later' , and i am using windows 2003 server. kindly tell what i will do in order to overcome on this problem.

Hi,
If you are using enterprise edition means, your hardware dosen't support. Please see the software&Hardwa re Requirements sheet.

You may download "windows installer 3.1 or later" from microsft official site.
you need windows server 2003 with SP1.

Please try SQLExpress it's free edition.
you download from microsoft official site.
You need following software for SQLExpress
1.windows installer 3.1
2. .Net Framework 2.0
