I want to create a Financial Analysis program for personal use. I don't care about selling/distributing it (though I'd hope if I ever did share it, I wouldn't have any licensing troubles).
Features of this program:
I want it to be GUI--windows, boxes for input, etc.
Self-executable (if at all possible)
Capable of running analysis based on custom functions that I give to (probably the least of my troubles)
The easier to make/test the better. I don't need high quality.
What I primarily want to know is if there are any good programs anyone knows of that would allow me/help me to make this.
In a similar vein of knowledge, I am wondering what kind of programming syntax I should/could use. My experience with any programming languages so far has been very focused on the input/output that is typical of the terminal (or done internally, not displayed). I want to get my output/input into a GUI of some kind. I am willing to learn.
I know a lot of Lua, but I know a tiny bit of most languages, and I'm so familiar with programming languages in general that I could pick up another language if I had to, with enough time, no problem.
Right now, a spreadsheet isn't versatile enough to do the job well, and the only graphical output program I have is CPU-intensive (it is designed for game-creation), and the tools/libraries I have found to use with it are also not the best.
