Getting and manipulating data from webcam!

I want to get and manipulate data from webcam for development purposes, but have no idea where to begin...

Someone know how to get an imagem from my webcam and store it in an array of pixel?

I would appreciate if someone indicates a tutorial to solve this problem (:
