    Disposable prototypes

    Greetings,

I’m writing a research report on justifying disposable prototypes.

The problem being there is a wealth of material regarding failures in the IT press and some of these put partial blame on prototypes.

There are lots of books and website promoting the use of prototypes and all state the wonders of prototyping.

However I can’t find (on initial googling session of a few hours) a single whitepaper, new item, statistics or research that one way or another has figures to show the usefulness of prototypes.

Or an experiment where one project is performed by two teams one using prototypes and the others dont.

Any ideas where I could research this further?

There are a few 'success' stories I found about prototyping but these are all from personal experiences and for minor projects.

Any idea what my next plan of attack should be?

    Back to googling ...

    Hi Rob

Here are a couple of studies I've found.

May help to get you started.

      Thanks for the reply.

The first link doesnt work, but I will see if I can find the link from the homepage.

Just wondering how you found those white paper studies?
I spent along time on google without success or found sites with studies but they required a subscribtion fee.

      Thanks again
      Rob

        Hi Rob

With google the trick is often in the keywords used for searching.

        I simply did this.

You might find the following site useful as well.

However, the white paper mentioned most often is the first one from the previous post. Here is a different link for it.

However, you will be required to purchase this particular paper.
