Hey friends i just changed my Job.
I am working in my current company as "senior software developer" and at new company my title will be "programmer analyst". I am going to join that company but before that wants to know which title is better.
And whats the difference between "senior software developer" and "programmer analyst" ?

Arise old thread arise.
They call me Analyst programmer and my boss calls himself Systems Developer.

I don't think these posts are created as per any standard. Every company has different name for same position and same type of work. I am very well confused with this stuff.
My job title says im a programmer,
But my duties are also dicumentation (Which i have done nothing of, as the clients are not interested in it)
So happy to call myself a programmer, But at the same time..... I just get the requirements, and i convert it to a product, so i am well above a programmer ( a developer i think)
But apparantly the client dosent like me putting my name as a developer - why - they contest that they have paid for the source code and own all rights to it...well keep the clients happy, let them fancy that they developed it...will watch and see them burn when this contract finishes :P
I call myself a developer but allow my clients to own the application. This is a little different than owning the source code as in my area so much of the code is standard procedures that noone can really own it.
If I "rob" a module or procedure then I cite the copywrite of the owner in the code and let the client worry about it. So far I've had no complaints.
In my case the client is only concerned that they own the application and can make changes etc as required without recourse to me (although they usually do).
This discussion is best continued in the software development platform, so I'll move it there.
I would think that a coder is someone that exclusively writes (& tests) code; a programmer is a more general term that includes Software design & planning as well.(although a coder can also be called a programmer.)
