i keep having problems playing Gold Miner Vegas; Finders Keepers; none will load

Before this evening when I came home and found an odd page showing on my desktop, my pc ran okay...not great. It is a new emachine, only purchased it in 5/2010, but there have been issues with it. I believe someone, maybe someone I know, has hacked my system. Anyway, I don't know for certain, but it seems quite odd that while up to several hours earlier, I was able to play all kinds of games; aolgames.com is the site I always frequented. I only played Finder's Keepers and Gold Miner Vegas. Or, Poker sometimes. For some reason, nothing will load now. I have recently deleted the guest account that I found on my pc, thinking I do not want nor need any guest account on my only computer. Could that be the reason this has happened?
I have an eMachine, with Win 7; and running the i.E. 8,

does this only happen with IE - could you try to install another browser like Firefox to check whether it would work with that?
