The Python Tutorial can also be found in the standard documentation "Python Manual" that is installed on Windows by default.

On XP it Start|Programs| Python 2.x|Python Manual. I hope that Vista navigation is not too radically different, as I may have to use that OS someday (hopefully not).

              Got it thanks.

No its not radically different, i hear so much complain but i really don't know where its coming from. Or maybe i'm just an average user who doesn't notice these things.

I liked the Vista navigation. Completely removes the need for the chaos that is the 'All programs' menu.
I'm hopeful that after a year or two Vista will be a pretty good OS. That is, once the millions of beta-testers, that Microsoft likes to call their customers, have combed through most of the major bugs.

But, getting on topic. That 'How to think like a scientist' book looks good. I tried to read the tutorial on the official site once but it's just so dull.
Now all I need is a decent Python editor and I'm good :)

Thanks for the Vista boost (although I have never had the "All Programs" menu - I have stuck with "Classic").

The reviews in this link are a bit old, but still very relevant. Of those, I've heard good things about pydev on Eclipse. SPE was my favorite, but I'm not sure if Stani has kept up with wxPython releases. I'm using Boa Constructor which is a full GUI IDE/code generator (and I love it).

IDE's for Python, um i tried learning C++ at first and i was looking for IDE's i tried eclipse and i couldn't get it to work then i decided C++ wasn't for me. Right now i'm just sticking to Notepad++ ( using it to learn Perl at the Moment).

I downloaded a trial version of the Wing IDE and it looks pretty good.
