    Python editor for Mac

    Hi All,

I am currently using the IDLE editor for mac. Though it gives color code when I write the program, but as soon as I save the file the colors disappear. Is there an editor in Mac that will let me show colors when writing a code AND show me line numbers?

If not is there any in Windows?

    Thanks alot!

On Windows, there's Notepad++. Not sure if it's been ported to the Mac.
There are many others. Our Python Articles section is one place to "look into IDE options". Good luck.

One of my favorites is SPE (Stani's Python Editor). It currently runs under an older version of wxPython, but have heard that it will run under wxPython verion 2.8. Haven't checked that though.

SubEthaEdit is a great program for editing a lot of languages. You should seriously check out some of it's other features as well (cough cough shared edit mode).

This is probably a bit late, but if you don't save your projects with the .py at the end then everything turns black and white. Otherwise it should save with colors.

I didn't realize that NetBeans let you do Python Development as well.

IDE should work instead to develop. Let python develops :)
