pythoncom.PumpMessages - how to quit

When I call:

pythoncom.PumpM essages()

....it blocks at that line. According to the docs, it says it will run
until it receives a WM_QUIT....so I try to create a separate thread and
do

import win32api
win32api.PostQu itMessage()

....but the code is still blocking at PumpMessages. Any ideas? other
than killing python?
