Problem executing IDLE

Hi all

I am trying to learn python. When I try to run IDLE on my Windows XP it
does not appear to run. Does anyone know why this is happening.

Describe what you are doing to try to run IDLE and you've a better
chance of getting help. (Python version wouldn't hurt, either.)

Is it possible to run the interactive mode in dos of python?
