Newbe - Error starting Python

I am new to Python. When I tried to start it on my Suse 9.1
system I got a KDEesktop message that said: Service
'searchprovider s/python. Desktop is malformatted.
What is this and how can I fix it? TIA

I was using the run in the start menu. It worked fine when I used
a shell to start it.
