Display thumbnail in a second container using PHP

Let me start off by saying: I am not an experienced developer and this is my first webpage project.

I have created an image uploader using php and in this process I also create thumbnails, when I go to my "view_album s" page, the thumbnails are displayed.
What I am looking for is some code that I can use that when I click on a specific thumbnail, the image must be displayed in a container on the same page as the thumbnails page (I already have the second container created) - some extra info: when I hover over the images, the filepath of where the image is kept is displayed at the bottom of the browser - essentially I need to know how do I get that filepath to be used as an href in the second container
