Beginner in php. Where to start? help

So far I was learning C and C++. I know little bit of java and html
programming. Now I want to know about
php. I searched for the faq in www.faqs.org I find nothing. Can any body
help me to reach a web pointer for php.

I will also be happy if somebody guide me to a group for web page
development and all tools used for the same.

HTML (Dreamweaver) -> CSS (Dreamweaver) ->
JavaScript/JScript/VBScript (Visual Interdev) -> DHTML (Visual
Interdev) -> XHTML + JavaScript + CSS (Dreamweaver) -> PHP (XAMPP +
PHPEdit + Dreamweaver) -> PHP + MySQL ...

Kudos for your work. After finishing the book, searching for
publishers is a wrong phenomena as I've learned from very bad
experiences; you could have started writing after agreements with the
publisher. Working with publisher, that is after the agreement is a
safest route--you'll get couple of copyeditors to share the burdens
and may publish the work quite soon especially to catch up the market.
Say for example, "Advanced PHP Programming" was available when PHP 5
was in beta itself, IIRC.

Incidentally, I'm much disturbed when competent PHP programmers use
double quotes for strings.
