    Installing phpBB 2 on Windows

I am trying to installing phpbb 2 on Windows XP to host a very lightly used
BB, with the main objective of trying to install the phpBB, web server and
    such.

I am using Windows because I don't have a spare machine to install Linux.

    I am using these components:

    Apache 2.0.50
    php 5.0.1
    MySQL 4.0.20
    ActivePerl 5.6.1.638
    phpBB 2.0.10
    phpMyAdmin 2.5.7

I went through lots of info on the web but I still can't get the pbpBB to
install. I typed in everything in install.php and hit "Start Install" and it
simply returns to the same installation page.

I am a home cable modem user with the typical restrictions, i.e. port 80
being blocked and a dynamic ip which, luckily, doesn't get changed too
    frequently.

I have a D-Link router and configure HTTP uses port 8000 and have it
translates to internal ip address, i.e. 192.168.1.xxx at port 80.

If there are people doing the same thing with complete step by step
instructions, I would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

post your question on the forum at phpbb.com. That forum would
include people who are specialized in phpbb (unlike this one).
