how make trackback URL

its been long time since i have asked here :P

well, i wanted to ask that how do i make some trackback URLs, i have read a lot about them online. But how do they exactly work, i mean they got pings ?? how ..

is there some idea.. Ofcourse i am willing to do it in php,mysql :)
