    people = ?

People don't really appreciate open source as much as they should,
given that so many people give away such magnificent tools, like
linux, apache, php, etc, this is hard work, and in my opinion, people
    don't apreciate it that much.

I guess I agree with slipknot.

An emo metal band supports open source software?

(I don't mean any disrespect by "emo", in fact I have a couple of
their songs on my cell phone/pda thing (but I'm not emo))

Oh, never mind, I see what you mean now. I don't have that song on my
      cell.

      My bad

Anyway, I think the reason PHP and open source software is going so
strong is because people /do/ support it. If no one used it, why would
they bother developing it? Sure, many take it for granted, but how
often do we say, "Gee, I sure am glad I have this baseball bat to
whack that ball the pitcher is throwing at me."

I think you are looking at the wrong people most of the people who
        understand it appreciate it.

But many of the people don't really understand much about computers
and don't really 'appreciate' anything - they are just working on what
they have heard - many of those hear a lot more from proprietary
marketing than from other knowledgeable sources.
