streaming server and its cost

I am adding a facility to download and play movies and songs from my website.
For this do i have to purchase A streaming server or normal web server will work.
what is the cost of streaming server.do any body has script for this unlimited download with resume option in case of dissconnection

for downloading large files the best way is to offer several different download methods so someone can choose the best way for them and their system. the easy ones are .torrent files, http, and ftp downloads for ftp you need to set up some custom permissions but it isn't too hard. and utorrent is the best download manager out there and actualy has legitment pourposes contrary to some peoples belives. and as far as a standard and streaming server, i've never heard of a 'streaming' server but mine is prety basic and works wonders.
