PHP AJAX File upload

I wants to create a functionality of multiple file uploads using Ajax but don't know how to post using Ajax. I have searched almost everywhere possible but can't get any answer. I wants to make a functionality similar to that of "Gmail file upload" means uploading file without refreshing page.
