    PHP editor delima

Okay. For reasons I don't feel like getting into, as it would depress
me... I have the following need.

A good php editor for windows, that does colorize my code and stuff to
help me check my syntax (as I am very new to the language.) The
problem is this software must be freeware and not have an FTP client.
Otherwise, I am cursed to use notepad for the duration of my
    employment. Any suggestions?

Why the requirement the editor must not have an FTP client? ???
Simply don't use it (... but vim doesn't have such a client)

          Crimson Editor is quite good.

I had a search around the various freebies a while ago. I use Textpad
myself, which I paid for years ago... it just *works* which is the
          main thing for me :)

When using Linux or Unix I tend to use vi because it is there :)

I agree with you. Those who pay me, do not. Don't ask me to explain
it... I've found logic to be useless in these issues.

And don't think that letting them know you can do it with windows
alone would help. I tried that.

;-) Hard to see how they wound up with a PHP project - not even expanding
                  the acronym works there...
