    HTML forms and PHP

    Hi,

    As part of a group project I have been assigned to research how PHP can be
    used with HTML web forms. What I need to know is, is it possible to
    automatically fill in a web form using a PHP script? i.e. Fill in the text
    boxes, and such with information passed in to the PHP script.

    Please let me know any information you have on this, it will be greatly
    appreciated...

    Thanks

    Chris Pook

    Re: HTML forms and PHP

    Assuming you're talking about something editing previously submitted
    data through a form (e.g., edit a profile), sure that's possible with
    any scripting language I'd say. Basically it's

    <?
    $a = $someinfo; //say this came from a mysql query
    ?>
    <form>
    <input type="text" name="a" value="<?=$a?>" >
    ....
    </form>

    I'm sure you can Google for php form fill or something and find a more
    expansive explanation ...

      Yes it is possible. You will find a number of books, either at the local
      bookstore or at amazon.com, from which you can quickly learn how to
      create web pages using PHP. My personal favorite is David Tansley's
      Create Dynamic Web Pages Using PHP and MySql (naturally YMMV).

        That's one of the many powers of PHP...

        For example:

        < form .... >
        < input type=text size=50 name=textbox1 value="<?php echo $valueforbox
        ?>">
        .... other input and submit lines ...
        < /form >

        You can also call a php function to get the info out of file or database.
