I've deleted admin username and password, please help!

    Please somebody help!
I've deleted my admin username and password which was initially set at test. Now I can't log into my website as the administrator. How do I put Username and Password back so that I can set my own password and username again, log in to my website and edit it. Which file do I have to edit, and where do I re-set the Username and Password?

    Call your ISP.

If it's on your computer it would help to answer your question if you said
    what OS, webserver, etc.

Are you running a common web site like phpNuke or is it a custom site? If
it's not custom, someone here probably knows where the passwords are stored.

Does your web site use a database (like MySQL)? Do you have admin access to
it? Do you have ftp or telnet access to your server?

Since there are a lot of web sites written in PHP it's going to be difficult
to tell you what to do with out a lot more detail.

          Candice,

You've not been clear with what access you've disabled/destroyed. PHP does
not have a username and password however some web based programs are written
in PHP and they (the programs/applications) might have a username/password
to control access. If this is the case you may or may not be in the right
newsgroup. If the web program you are trying to access is PHP based there
is a chance that someone here can help you but you need to specify what
service you are trying - is it some sort of blogger? or are you trying to
ftp/upload something? Is it on your own server or a server provided by your
          ISP?

Until you provide more information I'm afraid most folk around here will be
pulling at straws making random attempts to help.

          cheers
          randelld

I think it is a common website, do you wish me to provide a link to the website so that you can check?

Does your web site use a database (like MySQL)? Do you have admin access to
            it?
Yes it does use a database, it uses MySQL.

Do you have ftp or telnet access to your server?
Yes I can access my files via FTP

Since there are a lot of web sites written in PHP it's going to be difficult
to tell you what to do with out a lot more detail.

Re: I've deleted admin username and password, please help!

              Thank you Randel & Tom!
I have provided answers to your questions below.

"You've not been clear with what access you've disabled/destroyed. PHP does
not have a username and password however some web based programs are written
in PHP and they (the programs/applications) might have a username/password
to control access. If this is the case you may or may not be in the right
              newsgroup."

Can you tell me which newsgroup do I need to be in?

"If the web program you are trying to access is PHP based thereis a chance
that someone here can help you but you need to specify what service you are
trying - is it some sort of blogger? or are you trying to ftp/upload
something? Is it on your own server or a server provided by yourISP?"

I'm not trying to upload any files, I'm trying to edit my website from the
internet via my admin username and on the actual Webpage. Yes it is on my
own server. Do you want me send you the link to my website?

              Many thanks,
              Candice.
