Accessing Variables outside package scope

Hi,
I have written a .pm file (package) and then i have written a perl script. i call the sub routine written in the .pm file first i include the package. now i want to access the variable in the .pm file from perl script. I am not able to use it.
i have declared the variable as out yet the scope is limited.

Please Help over this.
