How to use a db from other system?

Hi
I'm using netbeans as a front end and oracle as a back end. we use two systems for same project one contain a db and needed data are stored and send to the other via lan if its possible to access the data from the other and can able to update the data from the other system ? I need the steps for fetch data like regarding.
