Do you have oracle installed on your system or only toad is installed. Those details are for the DB schema details that you want to connect through TOAD.

when you install oracle it creates a file tnsnames.ora in folder orant\network\a dmin. Toad gets all information from this ORA file. Hence check that you have installed oracle properly?

            PJ:
Go to the link I gave you... it is a walk thru on how to setup your program. I read thru the entire Toad site in under an hour and there are some very nice step by steps and other tutorials and documentation.

But, YES, should have had Oracle installed first as it would have made your setup much easier.

[z{ Skip the video to 2:30; preamble rambles on about each of the comercial products} {3:30; talks about the connection window}]

PLease go read thru the product site. We're here to help you when you get stuck... not to teach you how to program or use a product from scratch because you have not taken the time to read the documentation!

You have been told this before in many other posts and not just by myself, but by several other site mods too.
