Iterative function in sql

Hi,

I need to write a sql query where i want to select all the parent - child relation,

A parent has many childs, a child can become a parent and can have many childs.

so some iterative function is to be written.....

but have no idea of writing those in sql.

can any one help me.

try to use CONNECT BY ........PRIOR.
