    Printing french accents

    Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Using Oracle 9i, Pro*C and Excel. I am trying to print french accents from
    the Oracle DB
    using Pro*C to extract the necessary info and sent the result to Excel but
    at the moment
    I cannot get the accents to show in Excel. The NLS_LANG is America.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    NLS_LANG in the registry must be
    FRENCH_FRANCE.W E8MSWIN1252.

    The characterset of the database must be set to MSWIN1252.
    If the characterset is incorrect, you should have lost all accents.
    Could you check from the server they are actually there?

      French accents? How about using
      TRANSLATE(REPLA CE(text,'TH','Z '),'H','''')

      As in:

      SQLSELECT TRANSLATE(REPLA CE('THE CAT IS IN THE
      HOUSE','TH','Z' ),'H','''') FROM DUAL;

      ZE CAT IS IN ZE 'OUSE

      Sorry, couldn't resist it ;-)
