If I connect directly to my Cable Modem, I gets 10Mbps, through router 5Mbps

I have optimum online broadband, if I connect single PC directly to cable modem, I get 10Mbps, if I connect PC through Router (Router uplink to cable modem) I get 5Mbps, router is little far from computers, I add another switch in between, speed comesdown to 2 Mbps, I called Optimum, they says connect computer directly, if I do, I can connect only one, Is routers cause this bandwidth down?. any alternative for this to get high bandwidth?

What test are you performing to evaluate bandwidth?

Knowing nothing else, I would tell you that you are using either a testing tool intended to evaluate latency for evaluating throughput, or you're basing this on an observation of latency-dependent network traffic (ping-based, snmp, or some db platforms that are really bad about this kind of thing, for example).
Make sure that you are actually using an application intended to evaluate *throughput*.

You might have shotty cables that cant handle the higher bandwidth, just an idea.
