Wire speed slow down dramatically as long as uploading?

Our LAN contains some 10 computers, using so called Soft-router.
If someone uploading file(using IM or what ever),then, othe r people can not click open webpages.Seems uploading influences downloading. Can some one tell me why&how to resolve this problem?

Do you know the speeds that all your equipment can run at? Sounds like there's an issue with soft-router, but you could also put a sniffer on the wire at night and during the day to see what traffic is going across the network.

Ohy, why uploading influences downloading. There could be two possibilities

        1) Think of your connection as a pipe with a barrier/wall down the middle. Any size pipe. Then, imagine a download as a really big burst of water coming down that pipe towards you, filling your bucket. That water has no opposition, so it all comes at once and it uses both parts of the pipe.

What would happen to the pipe if you suddenly forced water to go the other way down the pipe? The size of the pipe has not increased, but you now can only use one part of it for incoming water, and another for outgoing.

That's the rough idea - in this case your NIC/cabling/routing equipment are the pipe, and your water is the data.

        2) your computer might be having trouble keeping track of both upload and download. Check the CPU usage and NIC usage - it may be as easy as adding RAM, or you may want to upgrade your CPU
