As any developer with a few years experience will tell you, version numbers used as names in directories is a bad thing, a very bad thing
So, MS put the Framework in those numbered directories and when you register an event source using the framework calsses it adds the following to the registry
EventMessageFil e="C:\WINDOWS\M icrosoft.NET\Fr amework\v1.1.43 22\EventLogMess ages.dll
Smart move, not
We were early adopters and released our app in 2002. Now we are getting buried in support calls, seems as people remove the 1.0 Framework our registry entries are broken for the event log, they still map to the old directories
Please learn from your mistakes! We do not have the resources to support this sort of thing
