    java or .net

    Hi to all friends,
I am working on c,c++,vc++ for 1 year. Now i want to move from c++ to another technology like java/.net

I learned both technology(java & .net) during my CDAC 1 yr ago, & I am good in core java but not so in j2ee while about .net I am good in asp.net but not so in c#/vb.
And another scenario is that ,though I love Java...in india (i am in India Pune) for 1+ yr of exp there are lot opportunities in dotnet but for Java/J2ee opportunities are for 2+/3+ yr of exp...

    I am confused...
    Plz give your valuable suggation..

    What sparked this question?

Are you looking for a technology to use for developing a particular project?
If so then you should consider the application specs. If the application requires that it should be run on multiple platforms then you might want to choose Java. But then again if it's a website that serves webpages to multiple platforms then I guess it depends on what server OS that you want to target.

Are you looking to specialize in a particular language?
If so, I would research the types of jobs that are available in your area. What technology is in the highest demand? Go for that one. You'd be more likely to find a job that way so that you can actually use your skills.

Both Java and .NET are great frameworks to develop with. Obviously the .NET experts are going to tell you that .NET is better (it truly is amazing)...but if you were to ask a Java expert you'd probably find that they are going to promote Java over .NET

I would say, learn what you need to learn in order to be an asset. And chose the appropriate technology according to the application requirements that you are developing.
