    We use membership to validate users and their access, no one is logged in it is their membership that we are interested in. HTH.

      I've tackled this problem before as an administrator.
      Just Google keywords Active Directory Last Logon and you'll get references like this one:

      They all cover pretty much the same ground.
      If you really want to find out who is currently logged on, I think you would have query the computer they are logged on at.
      Possibly a procedure of
      1) Read the domain server Event logged for successful authentications and gather the user and computer they authenticated from.
      2) Query that computer to see if the user is still logged on

      Alternatively, you can modify the domain login/logout scripts to record their logins/logouts to a logging process.
