Cannot install printer

I am stumped. I lost my printer about a week ago and cannot reinstall it.
When I try it tells me that the specified print monitor cannot be found. I
have a Dell computer with Windows XP and a Dell Photo Printer 720. Any help
will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried uninstalling the printer drivers, deleting the printer from
the device list in Device Manager, then rebooting to see if Windows will
rediscover the printer?

Another possibility if the printer is USB. Many USB printers want you to
install drivers *before* attaching the printer, so try uninstalling the
drivers, disconnecting the printer, then rebooting (with the printer
disconnected). After the reboot, install the drivers and don't reconnect the
printer until prompted to do so.

Have you contacted Dell tech support? After all it is *their* hardware and
*their* OEM software, so they should be able to help.
