    Visual Studio .NET update problem

Can anyone help? I have just installed Visual Studio.NET 2003 and went to
'Check for Updates'. Received the message regarding not being able to
connect to Internet, which I can without any problems. I have found the
problem reported in many places and they reference KB836454. Unfortunately
this entails making a contact with Microsoft Product Support, possibly
incurring a fee for a product which I have paid for.
Has anybody else found the solution as there appears to be no download
    available on the MS site?
Apologies if this is the wrong newsgroup. I couldn't see a visual studio
    newsgroup.

    Regards

    Andrew

I can only find 1 ref to what the update includes

Visual Studio .NET 2003 Crystal Reports Security Update
A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to
compromise a computer running the Visual Studio .NET 2003 family of
    products.

Do you really need the update? If you do I would suggest that since the KB
refers to an aknowledged bug I can't see how MS could charge you. . . . .
