    Downgrading VC++.NET to VC++ 6.0

    due to compatibility problems for a code I need to
    compile (Uses both VC++ and Compaq Visual Fortran), I
    need to replace my copy of VC++.NET with VC++6.0. I have
    uninstalled .NET using Add/Remove Programs, and have the
    files for 6.0, but setup will not work. It gives the
    first pop-up, with the option to view readme, then hangs
    when I hit Next. I've followed the only applicable file
    in the Knowledge base (192731) that I could find, and
    that's the only reason setup.exe starts at all. Does
    anyone have any suggestions of things I could try othger
    than reformatting, which isn't a viable option?

    Thank you for your time,
