How to represent a date in C

Greetings,

I have absolutely no idea how to represent a mysql date type in C.

There doesn't seem to be a MYSQL_TIME type. Any help/suggestions would
be greatly appreciated.

Handle it as a string, like varchar columns.

I presume that a blob or anything similar would also be represented by a string.
On the date question - Does mysql require you to use a specific format?

By default, yes I think so ( the format is yyyy-mm-dd ). But you can use
date and time functions if you wish to use some other format:
