Help needed to set up MySql on a linux host - please :-)

I am creating a web site and i need to connect to mysql database.
Im told i need to put a mysql driver into the web-inf folder.
where exactly do i get this driver? the host is linux....
is it as simple as putting the driver files into the web-inf and then
ill be able to access the tables from my jsp's?
