    How to setup Gmail Notifications for specific Labels on Mac OS X

    Gmail is a great tool and for Mac there is a notification tool that makes it easy to be notified for any incoming email.

    You can choose how Gmail notifies you when you get new emails. The types of notifications you can change depend on your device. Check your device settings Impo



    While this is a great tool, if you have a busy inbox you will get bombarded with notifcations that might not be useful to you.

    To solve this you can use Gmail's notifier app to only notify you of specific labels.

    Here are the steps to set up a label only notifier.

    1) Create a gmail label

    2) Create a filter that labels your important email to your new label(click on blue filter link)

    3) Install the notifier app

    4) Open terminal app

    5) Use the following commands in terminal to setup your label notifier

    defaults write com.google.Gmai lNotifier Label -string "importantemail "

    to remove/reset the label notifier just run the following command
    defaults delete com.google.Gmai lNotifier Label
