    File Associations

Is it possible to associate an application with a particular file type; e.g. open up .c, .cpp and .h files with Nedit when you double-click them from the File Browser.

On Windows its easy, but on a Solaris platform, I cannot find where it would be done, if at all!

    Many thanks,

    Andy.

    Hi Andy!
I've never really used Solaris, but from my experience with Linux and other Unixes, I'd say you have to set the Desktop environment to do that somehow. Now, there are two standard Desktop Environments for Solaris: JDE and CDE.

If you're using JDE, which is built upon Gnome, the Instructions here, section "Mime-types & Associations", should do the job.

I can't find anything on how to achieve this with CDE, so maybe someone with more Solaris experience can help, if it doesn't work with my JDE suggestion.

    Greetings,
    Nepomuk
