Probably driver issues, if any. XP usually recognizes things well, but while you have a computer up and running, I'd download the driver for your NIC, that way you can at least be sure that you will be able to connect to the internet and look for help on anything else once you get XP installed.

It would also be a good idea, while you're in there, to go through and see what your hardware is (SATA and SCSI will require drivers to install, maybe video, etc...) and get them.

You'll also re-partition your hd, but you can set Windows to greedy mode and usually be fine. If you want to set it up "properly" it's a good idea to create a separate 'system' partition. Wow, I'm used to doing it the other way around (win to linux), but I would imagine the steps are the same.

But the three things I would make sure of are there - that you can install (proper hd drivers), that you will be able to see things after you install (video card), and that you'll be able to connect to the internet afterwards if you need to troubleshoot anymore (NIC driver).

Why would you want to do such a horrible thing! XD

There shouldn't be much problems doing this provided you have an undamaged XP Disc and a working CD-ROM. Make sure before you begin the installation that you don't have any data in your Linux install that you want to keep, otherwise back it up.

Make sure you set your motherboard BIOS to boot from CD to get the first part of the installation started. Also when your computer reboots that you _don't_ boot from the CD again.

If your worried about partitioning, its really quite simple. Delete what would typically be Ext 3 and the Swap file partition (pretty sure XP won't be able to determine what these are exactly) but they will come up as two partitions that you should delete, so you can create an NTFS partition.

Remember to have the serial code ready, as far as I know this should be in the packaging of the XP Disc.

Not much else you need to be aware of. Just keep in mind that all your data is going to be wiped and you will have a fresh XP machine. Please remember too that you will need your motherboard driver disc and your graphics card driver disc too, This isn't like Linux in the way that XP will just provide all the thins you need. Its not extremely important to have your graphics card drivers as your machine will still run without them. However it can be very import for your motherboard ones because things like the network card won't be detected until their installed. That means no internet :(

OK I think thats it. Good luck!
