First of all, do you want Ubuntu instead of Windows or next to it? Have you partitioned your harddrive(s) in preparation or while the installation of Ubuntu and if so, what partitions do you have? At which point does this error occur? Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to install?

I'm sure, while trying to solve the problem, there will be many more questions...

    Greetings,

Do you have the possibility of a connection to the internet, while installing? If so, try downloading the mini.iso from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dis...mages/netboot/. This is a image for a netinstall version of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu. The image is tiny (8.8 MB).

I've experienced, that a normal installation doesn't work sometimes, but it works fine with a netinstall.

A little Plus is, that your system will be totaly up to date, as the newest packages are downloaded for the installation.

If you can't connect to the internet while installation or if this doesn't work, we'll have to try something else.

        Greetings,
        Nepomuk
